Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV):
Based on the same clinical framework taught in our live continuing education courses.
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common causes of vertigo encountered in clinical practice. When properly identified, BPPV can often be treated quickly and effectively with evidence-based repositioning techniques. However, many clinicians lack confidence in evaluating and managing this condition.
This course provides a clear and practical framework for understanding, examining, and treating BPPV.
We begin by reviewing what BPPV is, including the underlying vestibular anatomy and physiology that contributes to positional vertigo. Understanding these mechanisms helps clinicians better recognize and interpret patient symptoms.
Next, the course covers clinical examination techniques used to identify BPPV, including testing procedures for the Anterior, Posterior, and Horizontal semicircular canals. You will learn how to properly position patients, interpret clinical findings, and determine which canal is involved.
Once BPPV is identified, we review evidence-based treatment techniques designed to reposition displaced otoconia and resolve symptoms. These treatment maneuvers are explained in a practical, step-by-step format so they can be confidently applied in clinical practice.
Finally, the course discusses what to do after BPPV treatment, including patient education, follow-up considerations, and strategies for managing persistent or recurrent symptoms.
By the end of this course, you will have a structured and evidence-based approach to identifying, examining, and treating BPPV in clinical practice.
